  1. Yes. Very gentle. I whizzed through this (relatively speaking) in just over 28 minutes. The words I didn’t know, OPERETTIST, ANTI-FEDERALIST, CASEOUS and THEOCENTRIC were all well signposted by the wordplay. I did have a MER at ON for “just after” in 19D. COD to GATECRASHER.
  2. Steady solve, not too taxing. Nho withershins but was familiar with widdershins, presumably just an alternative spelling..
  3. My only query was at 19dn ON = just after. Has anyone got an example of this as I can on make it ‘at the time of’ e.g. ‘on arriving home I was planning to have a relaxing evening…’
  4. I don’t see a problem with ‘on’ in 19d: ‘On being told she would be back soon, I decided to wait’; sequence not simultaneity. I DO see a problem with race=NATION (and don’t tell me that it’s in Chambers; of course it is, or should be). DNK the meatloaf, DNK ABH. Liked SEQUEL.
  5. I went for TABLET for the meatloaf, my LOI. So a couple of pink squares when I pulled it up to look at before reading this blog post. I liked PARR. It’s not a triple definition, but a double definition plus wordlplay.
    1. I’m a bit perplexed by your comment about PARR – in the blog I underlined the two definitions and expanded the wordplay, and I can’t see anyone claiming it’s a triple definition.
      1. No, it’s all correct in the blog. I was just saying I liked it since it was unusual to see a clue like that (compared to triple definitions).
  6. Just under 20 minutes, so easy, but I managed to misread the wordplay for 56ac and put in HARRY-SCARRY. With the benefit of hindsight HURRY-SCURRY is obviously more appropriate but I’ve never heard of it so my answer seemed perfectly plausible.
